Water is vital to our survival. Without it we would shrivel up and die.
How much do you need to drink every day? That’s an excellent question and there are different opinions. Some say that you should drink 8 x 8. Meaning eight 8 oz glasses of water a day. Others say to drink half of your body weight in water every day.
I personally drink a gallon of water a day. I have a pitcher that holds a gallon of water and I make it a point to drink the entire pitcher each day. Usually I drink more.
Now I can easily tell when one of my kids hasn’t been drinking enough water. They become irritable and complain about having a headache. Save yourself (and those around you) some time from suffering and try some of these easy ways to drink more water.
Add fruit, veggies, and herbs
I love adding all of the above to my water. Not all at once though. I tend to be a creature of habit and usually add lemon, lime, or cucumber to my water and I will sometimes pair them with some fresh mint.
I’m not talking about adding drops from those little squirt bottles of MiO or Crystal Light. I haven’t researched them but I try to stay away from ingesting food coloring. I found a product called TRUE lemon. It is fruit that has been crystallized. Each packet has 0 calories and 0g sugar. The flavors I’ve tried are grapefruit, lemon, lime, and orange that I purchased as a 4-pack. You can find it here on Amazon. I like all of them, however orange is my favorite.
I noticed while writing this post that they now have energy drink packets. The flavors are wild cherry cranberry and blackberry pomergranate.
Set A Goal
Decide how much water you want to drink each day and do it.
If you are at home all day like I am, get a pitcher. Fill it up. Drink it. Repeat. If it’s a smaller pitcher then you may need to refill it once or twice to reach the number of ounces a day that you decided was your goal.
If you leave the house for work you will need to be a little more mindful of the number of ounces/cups you drink each day.
